Breakdown Cover Comparison UK

Breakdown Recovery or Roadside Assistance with At Home Comparison

This next breakdown cover comparison will be focusing on the "At Home" option that today has been added to both the basic "Roadside Assistance" and the upgraded "Recovery". As with the past comparisons we will use two such sample cars to obtain our breakdown quotes today; this is due to Green Flag scoring quotes based on the vehicle age/model etc. So, just what is "At Home" and is it worth choosing? Well, At Home breakdown cover simply brings the breakdown service to your doorstep when perhaps your car won't start in the morning! This is certainly handy in these winter months for those of us lacking the mechanical mind and working on strict time schedules. Roadside Assistance on its own tends to cost around the £30 mark, whilst Recovery (that includes Roadside Assistance) would cost around £70.

Breakdown Recovery Comparison (National Rescue)

The initial comparison looked at the entry level breakdown cover option that we call Roadside Assistance. This is the second comparison that will be shifting up to compare breakdown "Recovery", otherwise known as "National Recovery" or "National Rescue". This level of cover is just over twice as expensive as Roadside Assistance. It includes what comes with the Roadside cover, but impressively extends coverage across the UK and so wherever you may be located they will pick you and your car (or other vehicle) up and take you to your desired location if the vehicle couldn't be fixed there and then; usually this includes 7 passengers as well. Just remember that if you had the basic Roadside cover and there was no way to fix, the usual cap on towing to a local garage would be 10 miles. Having national coverage for you and your vehicle is impressive and probably worth the extra cost that comes with this level of cover.

Roadside Assistance Comparison: Find the Cheapest Breakdown Cover

What is Roadside Assistance? With this basic policy in place you will receive assistance at the roadside as long as you're more than a quarter of a mile away from home. If they can't fix your car (or other vehicle) at the roadside then they will tow it to a local garage for you with the cap usually being 10 miles. Roadside Assistance is the cheapest breakdown cover policy available and although it is the most basic, there may be added features, such as with The AA including "Help in an accident" and Green Flag having a message service for family and friends for a breakdown. This posting is concerned with cost alone and will compare Roadside Assistance quotes from the big three (more companies will be added at a later date and various other packages will also be compared). The headline prices displayed on each site tend to be the Roadside Assistance prices since it makes sense to promote the cheapest deals to attract attention to potential customers.
